Idea For A Band Logo #1
Here are some ideas I have came up with for the bands logo. I'm not hugely pleased with them as I don't have a lot of skills when it comes to Photoshop so maybe making the logo wont be my job in the group, but I can still put forward my ideas and say what I like and dislike. As you can see I have stuck to using the same font for the word 'skeleton' as I think it works well and it's the first word you notice. I think my favourite logo is the last one because it's quite simple yet the use of white font on a black background makes it stand out.

This moodboard features images of our chosen band: 'Little Comets' and other bands that also fit into the alternative/indie genre. This moodboard enables us to take influence from their styles, mannerisms and their dress sense. It also helps to gives us an idea of what props/scenary would be suitable. After researching for this moodboard, it has become clear to me that this genre uses a lot of outdoor photographs and enhanced colours to help make them stand out but at the same time they are all different in their own way.
Twitter / Facebook
The band has recently started their Twitter feed and Facebook page where they tweet about their upcoming shows and the progress on their debut EP which is due to be released in January. This is contributed to by the whole band.

Choosing Our Band Name
Deciding on a name took us a long time as a group to settle on one, we are all extremely opinionated which meant we disagreed often on certain words or structures of band names. We used random name generator web pages but they were all hopeless for our genre...

We then continued the search for a name that would be memorable and nothing like anything that exists now. We all really liked the idea of having 'The' at the start of the band name, due to knowing of multiple successful existing bands such as The Arctic Monkeys, The Maccabees, The Beatles, The Vaccines etc. However when we came up with our next idea, we had somehow forgotten about our original love for a band beginning with 'The'; we truly thought we had found a winner when 'Men In Tights' came about, although shortly afterwards we found out it was not the right name for our band. We soon realised that 'Men In Tights' although it mentions men, is along the same lines as 'Four Poofs and a Piano' - as talented as they are - that was not the vibe we were looking for.
The name choosing task became more and more tedious as it went along, after discussing specific words we liked and the structure of existing band names, from 'Kids in Glass Houses' to 'Foals', we finally settled on one name. My chosen favourite word ended up being 'skeleton' and as everyone agreed with the sound of this word, we added some variations around it, including...

We discarded the first three suggestions and focused on the last two, I think the group split half and half between the two remaining names but we soon came to the conclusion of which sounded more like a band, rather than a film.
So, 'The Skeleton Boys' it is!

We have chosen to use the Little Comets song 'One Night in October' for our A2 music video, this song fits into the indie/alternative genre.

The existing band is made up of three males, Robert, Michael and Matt two of which are brothers; they originate from Newcastle in the North-East of England. The band started out in 2008 and are still recording at present; however along the way they lost one band member as he chose to leave the group, Mark.
The band aim their music at the ages of 15 - 30 year olds, they manage this goal by the upbeat pace creating a 'cheeky and chirpy' vibe to their music, as quoted from the BBC.
The general style of music is alternative and would be classed as indie by genre, on websites about the band it suggests they play 'kitchen sink indie music'. We tried to look into the definition of this but there is not a specific answer to the question; their influences are Debussy, Roald Dahl, Ella Fitzgerald and Paul Simon. These influences are not common of musicians as they are a range of talent; our inspiration for our music video will not necessarily be taken from the same people.
We picked 'One Night in October' as our song for our music video because it's upbeat, has clear use of instruments and the lyrics are abstract as the lines do not run into each other; this shows the indie/alternative genre well as it is typical of these styles of song to not tell a story or make any sense sometimes.
The original video for the song is set in what looks like an empty stock room or large garage, we would like to look at similar settings as well as some outdoor locations to film our version of the music video.
